The FSB Security Service of Russia stated that three Ukrainian vessels were captured by it in the Black Sea as they had entered into Russian waters illegally and were trying to give shape to illegal actions. FSB also said the ships had ignored all the warning signals sent to stop.
FSB official statement said, “weapons were used to make the vessels stop forcibly. All the three Ukrainian vessels have been seized in the Russian Federation’s territorial waters in the Black Sea”.
A high-level military meeting was undertaken by the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, after the incident and it is learnt that President will urge to Parliament to implement Martial Law. UNSC will also take up the incident owing to the Russian request.
Ukrainian Navy reported that Russians fired on their vessels close to the Kerch Strait, which is a narrow passage near Crimean Peninsula. Six sailors were wounded. It also said that the vessels Beryansk and Nicopol have been badly damaged and cannot move.
Both the nations hold the right to use the Sea of Azov but after the Crimean annexation by Russia, latter controls both the sides of the Strait.
