White House has suspended the press pass of Jim Acosta from CNN after a heated confrontation between him and the President during the post-mid-terms news conference. It happened when Acosta had questioned the President about the huge caravan of migrants who enter the US along the southern border from Latin America. The discussion took an ugly turn as Acosta moved to another question when the President said, “That’s enough” and a female aide of White House tried to grab the microphone from Acosta but was unable to do so.
Sarah Sanders, the White House Press Secretary, later released a statement, where Acosta were accused of placing his hands on a woman trying to do her job as a White House intern. Sanders called the conduct as “absolutely unacceptable”.
There was only a brief interaction between Acosta and the intern where Acosta brushed the arm of the intern aside as she was trying to reach the microphone while he was trying to hold on to it. He even said, “Pardon me, ma’am”.
Acosta later tweeted that Sanders statement was a complete lie. White House revoked the pass of Acosta in retaliation to his uneasy questions as per CNN. The network also accused Sanders of lying and citing an incident which never took place. Jim Acosta has complete backing of CNN.
The news conference has marked another low in President’s terms with the journalists.
