MBS meets right-wing Jewish organisations in US

Mohammad bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia has reportedly held meetings with many right-wing Jewish organizations during his on-going US tour. As per a leaked note of his itinerary, an Israeli news daily has stated that MBS has met representatives from AIPAC, Stand Up for Israel ADL, JFNA or the Jewish Federations of North America, Conference of Presidents, B’nai B’rith and the American Jewish Committee AJC.

AIPAC, ADL and JFNA have been long antagonistic to the non-violent BDS (the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement which aims to press Israel economically for equal rights and the right of return to Palestinians.  The organizations have spent and donated many millions in their fight against BDS and also illegal Israeli settlements. JFNA has spent over $6m for illegal Israeli settlements between 2012-15. The organization has also contributed towards a large number of settlements across the Green Line.

Saudi Arabia has never given an official recognition to Israel but the recent turn of events send a positive suggest better relations between the two nations. International analysts have said that the whole visit is a conscious effort by MBS to show a new face of Saudi Arabia to the US and the world that it is flexible in its approach and is willing to embrace new realities of US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. As an old Arab saying states that the door to Washington DC is guarded by pro-Israeli leaders is exactly what MBS is following.
